Merchandising Basics

August 1st, 2008 by footballdummies9120

You’ve got the perfect product, you have Plussizematernityclothes212 great store location, now Brandnamebabyboyclothes6908 you have to do Ouranhighschoolhostclubrawepisodes9488 throw the merchandise out there Howarecavernsformed4607 the people will come, right? Wrong! You must strategically lay out your floor area to not only maximize space, but Christiandiortrainers8703 attention to what you have.

You want the shopper’s experience to be one of discovery, the joy of finding the perfect product at a great price. If your floor space is thrown together in a haphazard manner, and the shopper has to work too hard to find what he wants, you’re not going to get that exhilaration from your customer. In Shoecarnival2811 he may not come back.

Clutter, Clutter Everywhere

Clutter suggests disorganization and a non-professional attitude toward your business. New merchandise is brought in, but the old isn’t cycled out. The longer a business has Discountdesignerbags6480 in operation, the more likely this is to be. Is your store a littered maze of product that would strike fear in the heart of even the most resolved patron?

Inventory your stock and see if there isn’t anything that could be marked down for quick sale. If pricing it for ten cents won’t make it move, maybe it’s time to throw it away and take the tax write-off.

Chaos is for Theoretical Mathematicians

Neaten up your inventory, dust the shelves, and tidy up the bins. When everything is neat and in its place, your customer can relax. Cross merchandise related items so that one purchase will turn into two or three.

More Space, Please!

You don’t want your store to look empty, but by filling up every nook and cranny you’ve created an obstacle course for your customer. It’s one big blob to his overwhelmed senses. Delete obsolete items and spread out the rest of your stock so that your customer can have a pretty good idea of your merchandise with a quick overview.

It’s Everywhere, It’s Everywhere!

You want to keep your merchandise stocked to healthy levels, but not overflowing. Overflowing inventory creates chaos, confusion, and clutter, and then you’re back to square one where you look disorganized and unprofessional. It’s better to restock a little more often than to have merchandise falling on the floor.

Be Creative

Jazz up your displays. Be bold…be colorful…be unique! If your lighting is ineffective or just casts a pall across the whole store, consider upgrading. You don’t want shadows lurking in the corners, obscuring the vision of your customers.

If your walls are dull and dingy and you can’t afford to paint right away, consider hanging colorful panels on the walls. Don’t go crazy and induce a migraine into your poor customer, but brighten the place up. Use your imagination.

Time is a commodity that most people lack. When someone stops into your place of business, they may be on the way home from work or they may be spending the whole day shopping. The thing is they have a million places to go and a ton of things to accomplish. They don’t have time to do a treasure hunt for what they need.

Offer your customer a source of easily assessable merchandise that’s pleasingly displayed. The next time he’s in the market for what you sell, he’ll be back.

Do You Know How Eau De Toilette And Perfume Differ?

July 29th, 2008 by footballdummies9120

A flower by any other name is still just a flower. Yes, this is true but that does not always apply to fragrances. Perfumes and colognes are different when it comes down to the technical terminology. An eau de toilette is not the same as a perfume or an eau de parfum.

Many people make that mistake when buying and it later can give them a bit of trouble. You cannot expect or count on the sales Infantclothes5840 to know the differences either. It is not his or her job to make sure you are an informed customer. That is your job. With a little bit of reading you will know the facts.

There are three bottles standing on a department store counter arranged according to size. The tallest one is called an eau de toilette. It is often confused with being a perfume when Eckowholesaleprices8001 fact it is more like a body Discounthotelrate4464 or similar in scent to a body lotion.

The second biggest is the eau de parfum. The third bottle is quite a bit smaller Outletshoppingusa9670 the other two and is a perfume. Now, on to the subtle, or not so fragrantly subtle, differences.

The toilette water is a less concentrated fragrance that typically contains 1-6% concentration of perfume. It is meant to be a light and short lasting fragrance, typically like a body splash or spray mist that is found in after-shower products and also found in body lotion products. The second bottle, the eau de parfum, is the most common type of fragrance.

It is more Designerlabelscheap5055 than the toilette water and contains typically 7-15% perfume concentrate. The third and much smaller bottle is the actual perfume itself. It is also known as extract or extrait perfume and is Designershirtsforwomen3030 concentrate. It is the most expensive version of the three and lasts the longest, and is typically used with an atomizer and/or used very lightly on pulse points to minimize the overwhelming impact they can have on the senses.

So there you go. You can now differentiate between the three types of “perfumes” that are on the market today. There is the eau de toilette, the eau de parfum and the actual, usually expensive, perfume. You should now be able to go to that fragrance counter and get exactly what you want without worrying about the differences between the three and why the smaller bottles cost so much more.

July 25th, 2008 by footballdummies9120

Jane Norman is definitely one shop I feel so insecure about entering. If I think I might pop in for a look at dresses on a shopping spree, I plan what I’m wearing, make sure my tan looks good (no orange tell tale streaks) and my hair is a perfect as I can make it. Even then I still decide on Discount Mens Clothes day whether I’ll go in or not. It’s crazy but it’s just one of those shops that makes me turn into an insecure wreck.

Looking to buy jane norman dress outfits should not be that scary!

The staff seem so perfect - hair, nails and make up! I remember paying for something and wishing I had removed my chipped nail polish. I was trying to hand the girl money without showing my nails - it’s very difficult and you get strange looks!

….And my poor partner. I always blame him for “checking out” the girls even though he’s actually almost falling asleep because I’ve dragged him round so many shops. The poor boy!

Some of the items don’t justify the high price, which was the Discount Girls Clothes straw that made me look for Jane Norman dresses online.

Not only do I miss the busy shops (some Jane Norman stores are cramped!), I don’t feel insecure, my poor Discount Ladies Clothes isn’t hassled and I get discount Jane Norman dresses. Fantastic!

Life Isn’t a Dress Rehearsal

July 24th, 2008 by footballdummies9120

My college roommate was the eldest of 8 children. His mother was one of the wisest people I ever met and though she always had a lot to say, one thing she said has remained with me since the time I met her. She reminded us that “life is not a dress rehearsal.” We have one opportunity to invent the life that is right Howdoistartmyownclothingcompanyonline5665 us and to consistently live it. We do not have yesterday to live again, so life is not to be practiced; it is to be lived. There is no better wish by parents for their children: “find your role, live your role and love your life.”

Even though there is no truer message, I find in my years of teaching and traveling that most people are either unaware of the choices they have in life, or unwilling to step Discountskateboardapparel3600 and own them. Most people Privatelabelapparelmanufacturing8596 for Wholesaleoriginalreplicahandbags4992 to tell them how to live their life, what they should be, Womanwithnoclothes8039 they should marry, what hobbies they should have. In short, we seem to want and need others to tell us how to make it through each day.

Imagine instead, just for a moment, that your life is really up to you. Image that you have a voice in how you should live, who you should befriend, where you should live and what you do for work. Imagine that every day is to be celebrated because we don’t know if the next one is coming and we don’t know when it comes what it will bring. So to live the life we should live, we need to Kandgmenswearinatlanta872 four things: choice, imagination, passion and ownership.

Choice

Our life is up to us. A perspective I heard a number of years ago stated that we arrive on the planet “empty and meaningless.” That means that we arrive with an unwritten book and it is up to us (and the true value of life) is in the story we write. Our books are the sum of the choices we make about life - but most importantly it shows that we have a choice. We can choose to be happy or miserable. We can choose to live with people that love us or those that mistreat us. We can choose to focus on health or do unhealthy things to our bodies and minds. We can choose to fill out books with fun, laughter and great times…or not.

Today, see that you have choice. Choose to spend time with people who make life great for you. Choose to live healthy and contribute great value to the world in which you live. Life isn’t a dress rehearsal so choose your best life performance today.

Imagination

After choice comes a look at imagination. Since we can choose, let’s choose big. Depending on your believe system, we are here only once. If this is to be the performance of all performances (life), then shouldn’t it be the most exciting and imaginative one possible? If life could be ordinary or extraordinary, why not invent and live an extraordinary one? And that means a reconnection to your imagination.

Our brain loves patterns - doing the same things over and over. It can perform the best this way but then life becomes stale. Most lives can be represented by the phrase we use at the coffee shop - “the usual.” So it takes work to fight physiology and challenge our brain’s love of pattern thinking. What if, instead, you did the unusual? What if during the day, you select three things and do them differently. Drive to work on a different route - what could you see? Make dinner for friends from scratch if you don’t normally cook - what would it feel like? Bring in omelets instead of donuts to a meeting - what reaction would you get? Dress up whenever others are dressing casual - what statement would you make? Sixtiesclothes7693 list is endless. If the only difference between ordinary and EXTRAordinary is a little “extra,” then what “little extra” will you imagine and put into place to enhance the quality of your life and the lives of others? Life isn’t a dress rehearsal so imagine your best life performance today.

Passion

We have choices, particularly when we use our imagination. But what really creates an extraordinary life - a full performance life - is a life lived with passion. This starts with identifying the things that you are passionate about. It could be music, writing, gardening or cooking. It could be raising a family, running a company or speaking to an audience. We have the choice to find our passions. We have the ability to invent a role for our passions. And the happiest people are those who live their passions everyday. The sailor who loses track of time sailing along the bay and the runner who runs without regard to time, caught in the euphoria of each step. Or the writer who spends hours wrapped into the plot of a new novel or the gardener who installs the floodlights to light the garden to be able to continue gardening after dark. Passion. The things we love to do. Shouldn’t life be filled with passionate moments? Life isn’t a dress rehearsal so be passionate about your best life performance today.

Ownership

Your life is your life. You own it. You own your feelings, your responses and your approach to life. Things affect us -some are more controllable than others. But our response is always up to us. We decide our reactions, our choices, our imagination and our passion. And it is up to us to blend these into creating an extraordinary life.

Many people are quick to point a finger at others as either inhibiting or limiting their lives. They look back on their lives and have many regrets, all attributable to others. Today is the day to step up and own the great life you have been given. Today is the day to create it in the way you want it to be. Today is the day to realize that you come this way once. Remember this life is supposed to be great; life is supposed to be extraordinary. And if it is less than extraordinary, it has been our choice to let it be that.

So, life is not a dress rehearsal. We have the tools to make this the most amazing performance. I don’t know about you, but when my time comes to move on, I want my friends and family give me a standing ovation on my life’s performance…for the difference I made, for the passion I lived and for the lives I touched. And I know that this is my choice. What life do you choose?

The Fashion Of The 1960s

July 22nd, 2008 by footballdummies9120

The ’60s was the decade of freedom. Everyone, particularly the youth, spoke out their preferences, and had an immediate and powerful effect on the fashion industry. For example, the women of the ’60s chose to have a childlike image with short skirts, much like the trend in the 1920s.

Fashion in the ’60s emphasized simplicity, youthfulness, and neatness. Synthetic fabrics became widely used during the decade. Hats became passé. Stilettos were widely used items as well as lower kitten heels. Flat boots were also worn as well as very short dresses. Shoes invariably changed from pointed toes, to chisel shaped toes, and to almond toes.

Light fabric was the choice material for menswear in the decade. Young men chose to grow their hair down, even reaching the collar. For good measure they added floral motifs and colors to their shirts. Other trends among men were the wearing of the polo neck, the workman jacket coupled with rough corduroy. The Mao jacket also proved to be more than a political gimmick. Jeans were also worn marking another innovation in the wardrobe of men. Designers like Pierre Cardin introduced some progressive rumbling although the 3-piece suit remained unchanged. The ’60s movements of hippie and psychedelia had a strong influence on fashion.

The decade also marked the rise of partnerships between high fashion designers and popular celebrities. Audrey Hepburn was matched with Givenchy, while Jackie Kennedy found hers with Oleg Cassini. It was also the time when models stamped their influence on fashion.

Surviving Swimsuit Season - The Right Swimsuit For New Moms

July 22nd, 2008 by footballdummies9120

Yes, summertime is in full swing. There’s one thing that strikes terror in the new mom…the thought of putting on a bathing suit in public! As much as you might like to, you can’t stay indoors all summer or hide inside while your family and friends enjoy the sunshine. So here are a few tips to help you make the most of swimsuit season:

1. Choose a bathing suit that is most flattering to your figure. If you just had your baby, this is probably your maternity swimsuit and that’s okay. Just tell yourself this is a time of transition and know that you’ll be able to get back in your old suit soon. Use a cover up when you’re not in the pool. A sarong wrap that ties around your waist and covers up that post-baby belly works great.

2. Don’t focus on the way your body looks. You don’t have to look like a Victoria Secret model - hardly anyone does! Focus on having fun with your friends and family. Remember that almost every woman in the pool or on the beach feels conscious about her body too.

3. Set a goal for yourself to get back into your pre-baby bathing suit. Why not use that pesky bathing suit as incentive? It may take several months, but make it your goal to put your old bathing suit on next season. Take the angst you feel about your post-baby body and turn it into fresh fuel for working out and eating healthy.

And if you decide to get a new bathing suit:

Don’t spend much money on your swimsuit unless you’re at your goal weight. You’ll only wear that swimsuit a few times, and then it will end up in the giveaway pile when you lose those pounds!

Lastly, I wouldn’t advise trying on bathing suits at the store with your husband in the dressing room. I did that once and it was utterly depressing and humiliating!

Okay moms, now you’re ready to dive in with confidence!

What To Wear On A Job Interview

July 21st, 2008 by footballdummies9120

Knowing what to wear on a job interview is half the battle of the interview itself. The old adage could never be so true, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.”

When you’re going on a job interview, your appearance is extremely important. Whether or not you look professional or sloppy could play a huge role on if you get hired.

When first deciding what to wear on a job interview, you should first take into consideration the culture of the company you are interviewing with, and dress accordingly. Are you interviewing with a company where the employees wear suits everyday or do they wear t-shirts and jeans?

A suit is not always the best choice for what to wear on a job interview. If you show up wearing a suit and tie and all the employees are wearing shorts and flip-flops, you will look out of place, feel uncomfortable and give off the wrong energy. The same is true of the opposite. If you show up wearing shorts and flip-flops to a company that wears professional attire, you will be just confirming that you don’t fit into the company.

If you want to get the job, your choice of what to wear on a job interview should match or be slightly dressier than the normal work attire of the company. For example, if the normal work attire of the company is business casual, it’s ok to wear a suit to impress. If the normal work attire is casual, it’s ok to wear a business casual outfit to impress as well. Appropriateness is the most important factor on what to wear on a job interview.

After you decide whether a professional, business casual, or casual outfit the most appropriate for your interview, here are some guidelines you will want to stay with in when deciding what to wear on a job interview. The key is to wear clothing that you feel comfortable and look great in, while at the same time matching the corresponding dress code of the company. That way you’ll give off great energy and your true personality shine through.

Here are the guidelines:

1. Make sure your clothes that are neatly ironed and press. Nothing gives away the lack of attention to detail than wrinkled clothing.

2. Make sure your clothing fits properly. If your pants or sleeves are too long or something is too loose or too tight you’ll look and probably feel awkward.

3. Don’t wear flashy jewelry. You’ll want the interviewer to pay attention to you, not your bling.

4. Dress according to the season. Don’t wear a stuffy turtleneck sweater in the middle of the summer.

5. Don’t wear perfume or aftershave. You never know if your interviewer is allergic and this isn’t a good way to find out.

6. Make sure you have a nice, clean haircut that makes you look well groomed.

7. For men, make sure you shave and keep facial hair to a minimum.

8. For women, don’t wear anything that is too revealing. It’s best to keep your body parts inside your clothing and not be too exposed.

9. Avoid articles of clothing with loud, busy prints. It’s best to wear solid colors that flatter your skin tone.

10. For women, make you wear appropriate lingerie and/or pantyhose underneath your clothing. This will give you smooth lines and assure you don’t have visible panty lines on your backside.

11. For women, don’t overdo your makeup. Wear natural colors and avoid heavy eyeshadow, eyeliner and bright colored lipstick.

12. For pants outfits, make sure you wear a belt that matches the color of your shoes.

So, congratulations on getting the interview. Now, know you know exactly what to wear on a job interview so you can get the job.

Ashlee Simpson and the World of Punk Fashion

July 14th, 2008 by footballdummies9120

Ashlee Simpson, the younger of Jessica Simpson, has always been known for her punk fashion. Among her favorite fashion designers are Alexander McQueen, Vans, Marc Jacobs, Urban Outfitters, Juicy couture, Louis vuitton, D&G, Free People, Balenciaga and Rich & Skinny.

Her street style is very casual with an edge of skater punk. She is most usually seen sporting hooded sweatshirts, with a pair of denim faded jeans and slip-on Vans.

As the style of Ashlee Simpson, punk fashion has been fast growing in popularity over the years. Punk fashion refers to a style of dressing that comes within the confines of punk subculture. When punk music was established in the early nineteen seventies, it became inevitable that the fashion industry should follow. What we are doing now is trying to emulate the lost fashion of the punk past.

Vivienne Westwood is one designer who helped a lot in influencing the punk fashion from that time by using famous punk icons such as Ramones. Their fashion include vulgar clothing, tattered tees, controversial images, studded jackets and anarchy symbols.

Later on, there was the bondage style clothing which was all about corduroy straps attached to the pants and thick chain straps, and tapered jeans. The hairstyles also followed which was all about radically colored brightly dyed hair.

Ten years after, it became revolutionized, with the importance of shock factor and wearing combat boots. Plaid skirts, heavy chains and tattered jeans for clothes. Piercings, tattoos, Mohawks and liberty spikes was normal for most people walking down the street.

Today, in this modern day and age, not a lot of things have changed. The most popular sense of clothing is the Do it Yourself type of clothing which was just as popular today like when it started before. However, the genera population of punks would wear simple tees or hoodies. Most of the punks these days, will pay honor and respect to the original 1970?s look. Punk fashion is highly entertaining, indeed.
